The UC Davis Center for Neuroscience celebrates Brain Awareness Week 2016
March 16, 2016
ON March 12, the UC Davis Center for Neuroscience opened its doors to the general public to celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2016. More than 120 attendees from the broader Davis/Sacramento area joined us to learn about our latest research achievements in neuroscience research and to hear 4 magnificent talks on the healthy aging brain. The talks were given by Dr. John Morrison, director of the California national primate research center, and Drs. Gregg Recanzone, Charan Ranganath, and Leah Krubitzer, professors and members of the Center. Our wonderful faculty and trainee volunteers put together fun, interactive booths with brain specimens, neurons under a microscope, brain trivia, and even helped organize a poster competition! Despite the light rain, we reached full capacity and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees.
A very big thank you to all attendees, our speakers, and our volunteers! This event would not have been possible without the support of the director of the Center for Neuroscience, Dr. Cam Carter, and our sponsors: the Society for Neuroscience, the Dana foundation, and the UC Davis graduate student association. Links to the recorded talks will be uploaded soon.
